2011 Team Tiers

Last year was the second year we tried the tier system for team selection. Tecmo teams were divided in to six tiers. For each match, players rolled a die to determine which tier they could choose from. Tier 1 consisted of the best teams on the game while Tier 6 the not, so, best. After some tweaking from the year before the system seemed to work well but there was still room for improvement.

For example, last year Tier 5 was selected eight times. In all eight games the player who picked the Rams won. In Tier 6, Cleveland won five times out of six. And in Tier 1, the Bills went 6-1 when chosen.

So after doing more analysis than before, we've come up with Version 3.0 of the Tier System that I think will prove to be the best yet.

The 2011 Tecmo Tourney Tier System
After messing with having six tiers I figured that for better variety in matchups the system would work better with only five tiers.  So this year there will be five tiers of five teams each.  Three teams will not be included in the tournament which are the Falcons, Patriots and Colts.

The Niners have been added!

It'll be interesting to see how this tier plays out.

The Rams ridiculous 8-0 run in Tier 5 last year earned them a promotion.

A mishmash of teams that all have some good features and some truly god awful ones.

The top of the trash heap if you will.  Green Bay making an appearance after being on the omitted list last year.
